CONGRATULATIONS! What a great award! Yes, I also noticed that a name was missing. Hopefully it was an oversight.

Keep up the good work!

One of my former clients is a Streetvibes vendor and I have to agree - it's a great little paper and really provides a service for homeless men and women. I've added your blog to my blogroll as well. Thanks for the great articles!

Hello, The story is about me. The main reason I did the interview was because I thought it would help me find an attorney. On November 14,2007 myself and 8 other homeless citizens were told to leave the " Chicago Ridge Public Library " because we were homeless.I can't find anyone who wants to take this case. If you can help me STOP this discrimination, please Email me. God Bless You, Doug Skrobuton

I like that you've differentiated here between the chronically homeless and short-term homeless populations. I think a lot of people really lump the two groups together, but the truth is that many people only experience homelessness for a short time because most communities have resources to help people that have fallen on hard luck. The chronically homeless tend to be those with more severe health problems, including mental health and substance abuse issues that may prevent or preclude them from seeking the help they need. These problems can also make them harder to serve. In the end, however, the chronically homeless are perhaps those who need our help the most when adapting to life off the streets.

Great Article! I wanted to share a link with everyone who cares about homeless veterans in this country. I really recommend this documentary called WHEN I CAME HOME. It's a great doc about homeless vets and includes some young veterans from the war in Iraq. You can check out a trailer for the film and find links to how you can help at:
